Although the Network card of the guest is set to that of the host and the
host has internet access, I cannot access the internet from the virtual
machine.  I'm new to administrating Win2003 Server so I just left the default
Win 2003 settings.

Within the Network Connections the following are displayed:

Network Bridge - the IP address is correctly allocated by the router via DHCP
Local Area Connection - this is mapped to the host's NIC card;
Local Area Connection 2 (disabled)

Any ideas?

That should work. Does nslookup work in the guest? Try doing "nslookup
www.microsoft.com" . If it fails you have a DNS problem somewhere.

   You haven't promoted the server to a DC, have you?
