I don't know about TechNet, but I am an MSDN subscriber and we get to
activate several instances of the operating systems using the same
activation key (which is downloaded from Microsoft after you have
logged in as your account).
I think that the limit is 10 activations or so.

Yes, it is 10. Reactivations do not count against the ten. It is
activation on 10 machines, not activation 10 times, so you might have to
reactivate on each of the 10 machines several times due to hardware changes
but you still would not exceed the activation limit.

Note: Technet may only provide 5 activations, but it works the same way as
MSDN.
