Hi,
I travel a lot and use a Sprint EVDO data card to connect to the Internet.
I've tried to use NAT for my networking, but it doesn't seem to work
properly. Is there a way to set up something so that my Virtual PC will
recognize my data card? I don't see it in the dropdown list.
Thanks in advance.

Ron,
I use an EVDO USB mini-modem to conect to the Internet. Because Virtual PC
is unable to share USB devices between host and guests, I had to find a way
to share my internet connection from the host to the guest.
I tried NAT to, and I got some problems because of a VPN software called
Contivity (from Nortel Networks). I just uninstalled this software and then
NAT began to work properly.
Check if you dont have any software that may create a virtual adapter which
can disturb the communication between your host and virtual machine. Check if
your DHCP is enabled on your guest OS also.
There are some posts above under the title "Sharing Internet Connection". It
may help.

Does the EVDO card show up as a LAN connection in the host when it is in
the host computer? If so, look at its properties to see if Virtual Machine
Network Service is bound to it. If not it won't show up as an available NIC
in VPC.

Marcus & Paul,
First of all, thanks for the quick replies. I appreciate it.
I don't have anything from Nortel installed on my host machine. I do,
however, have some VPN software from Nortel installed on the guest.
When I'm home and hook up to my home network through a wired connection, the
guest can use NAT with no problem.
Paul - to answer your question, No, it does not show up as a LAN
connection. It shows up as a Dial-Up connection. However, when I go into
Properties->Networking, Virtual Machine Network Services is there and
checked.
Is there any way to use a Loopback adapter to hook up to the Data Card?
Will the VPC see the Loopback adapter? (I've got no idea if it will work or
how to do it so that it would.....I'm just throwing ideas in the air.)
Thanks.
Ron
