He never left!  If Microsoft actually runs these groups, can't they
block him?
Colin Barnhorst - 25 Feb 2008 05:44 GMT
On what basis?  Obnoxiousness?  Inappropriateness?  Forget it.

You can't block someone solely for being irritating...

Just killfile him like everyone else does...

Microsoft has no clue how to build search engines. If I want to find
something buried somewhere in microsoft.com, I never use their search tool.
I'll find it much faster with google or altavista, etc.

Yep.  The point being, just because they're MSFT in no way means they know diddly
about the internet, as you had suggested.  They pretty clearly don't.  Just pick up
the business section from any newspaper if you have any remaining doubts.

Didn't Al Gore create the internet?

Must be why their so successful?

Wonder what it would be like if they knew what they were doing...

Microsoft successful, and Microsoft building a good search engine, are not
related. They are the first, they have not been able to do the second.

I looked at the last five years of MSFT performance. Nice peak at the end of
2000, followed by a nice dive, followed by mediocre performance for several
years. Nice peak last year - tied to Vista release? Now they are going down
again. Plenty of volume, but too volatile for me. I'm not impressed.

Perzactly!

(Sharing with "the class": http://vb.mvps.org/images/BallmerCEO.gif )

Vista was released right at the end of 2006, and while MSFT rose (from it's lowest
post-Gates price ever) in anticipation, it fell almost immediately as the market
realized what had been wrought.

The peak last year coincided with the release of Halo3.  Make of it what you will.

To claim MSFT "successful" following the ascendency of Ballmer is clearly
disingenuous (being charitable).

Can you please take this discussion to email or to a forum where it is
actually relevant. This has nothing at all to do with VPC.

Old habits die hard, huh, Paul?  :-)

That net.cop routine of yours must either provide you with a huge high, or (my bet)
it's gotta be geting old by now, eh?  I know the peanut gallery lost interest long
ago.

Since you've discovered this news group you've contributed absolutely
nothing of value and you seem to think it is ok to clutter it up with
off-topic crap. Little wonder you've lost your MVP status.
I made a polite request, you chose to come back with a personal attack.
About par for the course I'd say.

If a program is useful, it must be changed.

Again with the unsubstantiable bullsh!t, eh, Paul?

Never let truth get in *your* way, right?

About par for the course, I'd say.  :-)

Actually, that was because Jim Allchin faced off eye to eye, and he blinked.

With that brown nose of yours, that ain't never gonna happen, is it?
