He gets an advisory message that the host operating system is not supported
for running VPC. Which is true. But that has nothing to do with whether or
not VPC runs on a home edition. It does.

It is not supported on the home editions, but it does run. Supported means
eligible for email and phone support from MS Product Support Services. It
has nothing to do with whether it runs or not.
