Using TCP/IP DOS 1.0 on VPC 2007
The error is shown on the title
MYCOMPUTER        192.168.2.2

Tried to change it to 127.0.0.1 in LMHOSTS
to no avail...

Still having no responses from the outside world....
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance

Now I doubt that the network setup was okay
but telnet/netscape can't find a host thru DNS
I tried to ping yahoo, no responses
I tried to use twinsock->netscape no responses
I typed ipconfig in DOS,  I found everything correct. So what am i missing?
Thanks

When I set VPC 2007 for using NAT,
then I typed ipconfig in DOS, the settings of the cable modem is shown, but
did not know how to deal with it. When I pointed network to my Network card,
it showed everything correctly..... but still no responses from the
internet....
What can be done?
Thanks

What happens if you set the NIC to the network card in your computer instead
of NAT?

NAT case:
IP: 192.168.131.66 << seems to be some DHCP output
Gateway: 192.168.131.254
Primary DNS: 192.168.2.1 <<< my cable modem
Backup DNS: 218.102.62.71  <<<< What I have been using in my host computer

NIC case:
IP: 192.168.2.3  <<< I think I hard-wire this one
Gateway: 192.168.2.1 << which is correct!
Primary DNS: 192.168.2.1
No Backup DNS

Thanks in advance

Ah - set the virtual machine's network adapter to point at your host's NIC
instead.

DOS????? What version of DOS have you installed...?

I think that is part of the problem. So I use NIC now. But the DNS still
couldn't resolve entries, such as www.yahoo.com
Resolving nodename www.yahoo.com
Error: DGN0219: Remote Computer not responding
when I change to using NIC.....

And

in twinsock. Netscape shows a message box to tell me
there is no DNS entry on the server.... or blah blah blah

DOS 6.2 :)

OK. Are you certain you are using the correct DOS drivers for the virtual
machine's emulated NIC?

Can you please post the machine's CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT...

@ECHO OFF
PROMPT $p$g
PATH C:\MSIE50;C:\WINDOWS;C:\DOS

I can't remember where I downloaded all the stuff from.
But I can recall someone had created a file that contained all the stuff it
needs to complete the network setup in a small floppy image..

Thanks for helping

Hmm - that looks OK...

Maybe there's something amiss in protocol.ini...?

Hmm - in which case, regrettably, I'm about all out of options...

I'm sure one of the VPC MVPs will help you out...

Alternatively, how small will the VHD compress? If it's not too huge, is
there any chance that you could put somewhere where I / we could download
it...?

I wonder if this is just a simple DNS issue?

E.g. from the DOS VM can you ping bbc.co.uk ?

If not, can you ping 212.58.224.131 ?
