I am trying to run XP in Virtual PC on a Vista PC.
From the XP I cannot see any other network items or computers.  From the
Vista host I can map a drive to the XP, but not the otherway round.  I cannot
map from XP to any shared folder on any PC.

I need to map a USB flash drive within XP in virtual PC, but I can't as XP
won't see anything outside XP.  IP address is OK, as is workgroup.

Have you forgotten to enable Network Discovery on your Vista machine...?

No, Network Discovery is ON.  The Vista sees all computers on the network and
the other computers also see all PCs including the Vista.

The XP in VPC, when I click "My Network Places", shows only Shared Docs on
the virtual PC.
If I then click "View workgroup computers" I get "Workgroup is nat
accessible. You might not have permission...".
All computers are in WORKGROUP workgroup.

I have used setup a home network on the virtual PC.  I have also turned off
Windows Firewall but it makes no difference.

Are you using the host PC's NIC or Shared Networking on your VM?  You
need to select the host's NIC for host-guest communication.
Have you verified that the VM is getting the correct IP info?

It is probably also worth running the network setup wizard on the XP
machine.
