I recently purchased a new laptop with AMD Turion 64 X2 processor. I noticed
on Virtual PC 2007 download page that this AMD processor is not listed as
supported processor. Does any one know if this is this an oversight or is it
not actually supported? Is anyone running Virtual PC 2007 on an AMD Turion
64 X2 processor without any issues?
I have tried looking all over web and I have found nothing to confirm or deny.
Thanks.

Rich,
I would not want to make my experiences as a voice of endorsement, but I
have run VPC 2007 on an Acer 5110 -series notebook computer with an AMD
Turion 64 X2 for several months now using Vista Ultimate with no problems. I
use the VPC to run (and isolate) business software such as Quicken, MS
Project 2003 and MS Visio 2003 because its easier to backup the entire VHS
than separate apps. I did have to upgrade the ram to 2GB since I need to
flip over to the base OS for other operations.
At peak operation using both the OS and the VPC, CPU performance is reduced
somewhat, but it has never peaked over 45 percent. Hope this helps!

You may be able to get it to work, but that CPU does not support hardware VM
properly so you will only have a software implementation. The desktop Athlon
X2 processors do support hardware VM and our test AMD machine runs Virtual PC
2007 sucessfully on Windows XP Pro as the host OS.

You don't need HW virt. to run VPC. In fact, if you're running
Windows VMs the only time you see any real benefits from it is when
you're installing the OS. After you install the VM Additions, there's
no real benefit from HW virt any longer.

I just found this... Hope it helps.
A computer that is running the x64 edition of Windows Server 2003 or of Windows XP stops responding after you install the 914784 update and a product that uses hardware-assisted virtualization
