2.13 GHz Pentium M notebook with 2 GB RAM, SigmaTel sound system -- so not a
slow system as notebooks go.

Running VPC 2007 under Vista. Allowed 512 MB memory and 10 GB virtual HD for
WinXP SP3 VM. Sound stutters so badly in the VM that it's unusable.

Does anyone know of a possible solution? Sound in VPC isn't very
configurable. It's hardly better with the hardware driver in Vista. You can
turn digital sound on or off. I've got it on currently.

Apparently, the fix is to turn of sound support.

;)

Does that come under the rule that the easiest way to solve a problem is to
eliminate it?

Yup! It's kind of like the old song "Lilly the Pink" --

Johnny Hammer had a t-t-terrible stammer
He could hardly s-s-say a word
And so they g-g-gave him medicinal compound
Now he's s-s-seen but never heard

The stuttering was driving me crazy. Now it isn't.
