I have been trying to find out when Microsoft will issue a version of
Virtual PC for Mac that will run on the new G5. It is my understanding
that the issue is not compatability with OS 10.3 or even 10.3.1, but with
the arcitecture of the new G5 itself.
Does anyone have any information relative to this issue?
Thanks
I don't know when it will be ready for the G5 Apple
Computer? but I do know that is doesn't function well
with the new Mac OS known as " Panther " . When using
with Dual processor 867, 1.5 GB ram, ATI 9000 PRO RADEON
CARD, Microsoft Virtual PC version 6.1 runs just like a
Pentium 1 at 100 MHz; every click of mouse takes 30
secconds. I gave the program the maximum amount of ram it
asked for 512 MB. and still it didn't function well.
Why doesn't the program support a graphic card emulation?
It won't run any window games, other than solitare or
checkers.
Until Microsoft develop's a 64 bit operating system for
Windows not one for a server that program won't
function!!!.
Microsoft has recently purchased G5 for a particular
project they won't say what project?
Probably to get it to run on G5 and Panther!!!!

Just to clear up a couple of points.
We already have developed and released a desktop 64-bit operating system.
It is available with 64-bit (Intel Itanium II) workstation hardware from a
number of OEMs under the name
Windows XP 64-bit Edition Version 2003.
see
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/64bit/
We are also finishing off the 64-bit Windows XP for the AMD 64-bit processor
families.
The reason we have a number of Apple devices on campus is that we are one of
the largest software developers for the Apple Macintosh producing some of
the best selling software on the Apple platform.

Its sad when somebody creates an OS that makes other software obselete, not
function or not function properly.
The story is one I see all the time about software/os upgrades on the Mac
Platform.
