Hi, In DOS, when you have EMM386.EXE loaded in memory,
FSHARE.EXE will tell you that this is an incompatible host.
A workaround I have found is to remove this line from
config.sys
DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE ..
However once you do that, applications that requires EMM386
will not load, for example, Windows 3.1
I believe this is a bug in the Virtual PC 2004 additions.
I hope Microsoft will fix fshare.exe to work correctly with
the EMM386 memory manager.

True, I should have mentioned that as well but forgot.

Hey Scott,
Do you work for Microsoft? If you do, can you provide an
explanation as to why fshare now causes problem with
EMM386? This wasn't problem in Connectix 5.2. Was this done
on purpose?

No, I'm not a Microsoft employee, just a user like most of the people
on this forum.
The problem came up with the security rewrite that was done for the
current version of VPC. I never heard any more details than that.

Correct - also - we are planning to address this in a future update to
Virtual PC.
