Hello Groups,

I´m trying to install Linux Red Hat 9 on Virtual PC 2004. I´m using a HP
Notebook Model Compaq nx6120. The installation process is ok, but when the
graphic mode start, the screen is distortioned.

Besides, VP2004 show the error message:

The virtual machine is using a Video Mode too big to fit into the screen.
Virtual PC has revert from full screen mode to WindowMode.

Do you know if VP needs any special feature or parameter for showing right
the graphic display mode.

What kind of Monitor or Graphic card should I choose for installing RedHat 9
on VP2004 using a HP Laptop display?

For your time and help, Thanks.

Sincerely,

Moisés.

VPC does not have support for 24-bit color depth, which is what is
distorting your window.  During the post installation configuration you have
the opportuninty to choose the monitor type (choose Generic LCD),
resolution, and color-depth.  Set the color depth to 16 or 32, but do not
leave the choice at 24.

hi,
I have same problem. I installed my Linux Red Hat 9 on Virtual PC and I have
one question. Can I change  color depth to 16 without reinstalling OS. Please
give me detailed information about that because I am new and not so good with
Linux OS.
