2 questions:
Where is VPC Express? A RC should be feature complete, AFAIK So:Is VPC
Express ever going to surface in Vista?
VPC 2004 SP1 has/causes major rendering problems when run on top of Vista.
When I run the pre-RC version, the app compat check said that " the
compatibility issue is fixed in RC1". The only thing that's changed is that
it disables Aero when you start VPC. The rendering problems remain though. Is
there a fix for that sometime in the near future?

I think that's only downloadable by certain volume licensing customers.
Anyway, it's just a modified VPC 2004 SP1, so downloading the free version
of that gets you that functionality.

There has been a new version of VPC that is scheduled for release early next
year that is supposed to be Vista compatible. (Virtual PC 2007)

1. VPC Express is supposed to be a part of Vista Enterprise and Ultimate
editions. If the current beta version of Vista is a RC, where is VPC Express?
(And active synch, but that's another forum....)
2. I have the most current version of VPC 2004 SP1 and it does have full
functionality except for the desktop rendering problems which lead to not
beeing able to see anything in the VPC window in several circumstances. This
was supposed to be fixed in RC1, as per the App compat error check in pre-RC1.

Was supposed to be.  I believe VPC Express was cancelled after VPC
2004 was made free.

VPC 2007 will be fully compatible with Vista.  I don't think VPC2004
will ever be completely compatible.

I do not work for Microsoft.

That was only Vista Enterprise version, not all versions, but now that VPC
is Free, there's no need for a limited version like that...

I don't think there's any promises until general availability, and it's
already been said you'll need the new version of Virtual PC for Vista
compatibility.

There's also one other compatibility issue with VPC on Vista, and that's
that parallel ports don't work in VPC.

I haven't personally seen the rendering problems, other than glass turning
off, but now that it's RC1 I doubt if it's going to be resolved for VPC
2004.

Things must have changed over the last few days....

I installed RC1 on a laptop and just a few minutes ago tried installing VPC
2004 SP1.  An error message appeared.  The message read, "This program has
known compatibility issues."  Clicking the button labled, "Check for
solutions online" yeilded nothing positive.  A dialouge box opened which
read, "No soloutions found for Microsoft Virtual PC 2004."

So I guess the answer is to wait for the VPC 2007 release for full
compatibility.

A good plan.

Continue to watch Connect and perhaps an opportunity to try a beta version
may show up since there usually are beta versions several months prior to
rtm of a new product.
