hi!
i have a HP t649.fi pavillion pc,
it has a AMD Athlon +3200 prosessor-
i seem to remember that the prosessor is a 64bits one, but it always says i
cant install the windows 64 trial version.
so is my computer compatible?
that is my question...

It should be. Perhaps you need to update the BIOS first.

How are you launching Windows XP Professional x64 setup? If its from within
an existing installation of Windows XP such as XP Home or Professional
32-bit, you will get that message. Windows XP Professional x64 requires a
clean install which means you will have to boot off the CD and install on a
clean hard disk.

if it is not an Athlon 64 3200+ it is not compatible. Seems like yours is
not 64-bit per the HP site.
CPU Socket A
AMD Athlon XP
Core frequency up to Athlon XP 3200+

Your computer does not have 64-bit CPU. The ASUS A7V8X-LA motherboard
is a socket A and there are no 64-bit socket A CPUs. Your Athlon 3200+
is not an Athlon 64 3200+.

You have an Athlon 3200+, about 3 to 4 years old and a 32 bit processor.
You *must* have a 64 bit processor in order to install the 64 bit version of
Windows
XP Pro.
