I noticed that Internet Explorer 7 automatically defaults to Outlook Express
when emailing links or pages from within IE7. I tried to change the client
to Microsoft Outlook or Thunderbird but it's impossible to do so.  Why?

Well, IE7 still is in beta testing, after all.  I presume that you have
IE7 Beta 1, as the capability you ask about is present and fully
functional in Beta 2.

If Outlook is installed, and it does not appear in the 'Programs' tab of the
'Internet Options' dialog, then perhaps you should remove OE before
installing any alternatives?

What programs are set on the IE7>Tools>Internet Options>Programs tab?  You
can set the email and newsgroup clients theres.

Sorry, I immediately regretted making this post the instant I pressed
'Send'. I havn't even seen the Beta yet - I was, at best, talking of my own
IE6, where if you install a program like my beloved EditPad and configure it
to handle *.HTML files, it will appear on that tab and you can select it for
your default HTML Editor.

I've done that sort of thing myself.  In OE, Message>Cancel Message is my
friend in those situations.

Wow - the things you never think of on your own!

Thank you.
