have opengl 1.1 all my 3D programs need 1.3 or better I have looked all over
the web at MS site and cannot find any way to update my opengl32 to 1.3 or
better, xp pro x64 comes with only 1.1 and no matter who I ask or were I look
I cannot find any download to update my opengl32.dll. Can some one please

Try visiting this site instead of MS' site:
http://www.opengl.org/resources/faq/technical/mslinks.htm .
You may be able to rename an `opengl.dll' newer version to `opengl32.dll' to
get your programs working.

I am no authority on this but I am possitive that MS stopped supporting
updating OpenGL at some time - the necessary support should be built into
your graphics driver and updating to a newer driver could solve the matter -
although, your current one would have to be quite old.

Tony,
I am pretty sure that it is up to the graphic card driver the task of
supporting opengl.
Newest ATI 8.9 support opengl 3.0 according to the release notes here:

What gfx card do you have? Is it really capable of running higher versions
of OGL?

I have a ATI 1950 Pro with 512 gddr3 support for opengl 3, tryed new drivers
and older ones.

Microsoft does its best to make information available about
almost any problem related to Windows.  A search of
Microsoft.com for opengl & x64 provided the following
Knowledge Base article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896456

Quote:
OpenGL
The x64-based versions of Windows Server 2003 and of Windows
XP Professional x64 Edition do not include an OpenGL
graphics driver. Contact the manufacturer of the device for
a driver that is compatible with the x64-based versions of
Windows Server 2003 and of Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.
End of Quote.

Which means there is NO OpenGL support included in XP Pro
x64.  So, that means you must rely on ATI graphics drivers
for OpenGL support.  Thus, this is NOT a Windows x64 problem!

It's worth adding that there will probably never be any updated
graphics drivers (or any other drivers) for XP Pro x64 as most
manufacturers consider it an obsolete OS, replaced by Vista 64.

Try a Vista 64 driver from ATI, it might will work, if not there's
probably no fix available unless you ask ATI to provide one and that's
certainly worth a try.

XS11E,
ATI is still supporting XP x64.
Their latest drivers:
http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp64/radeonx-xp64
are dated September 2008 (same as Vista x64) and claim opengl 3.0 support.

I'm surprised but I shouldn't be, it's probably the same driver for
both OSs.

No, they're not the same.  If you think back to the
development of Vista there was a new driver model.  So,
Vista x654 drivers won't work on Server 2003 & Xp x64.

Do note - you must use 64bit drivers. It is not always obvious from the
official sites, until you learn to ditinguish between them.

Hi Tony,
I was just thinking of you when I was buying a "Campanario" Pisco Sour at
just 19 pesos (that would be a mere 6 dollars!!!).
:)

End of discussion!

I'm moving to Argentina!

Seriously, though, one of the many benefits of living in a society formed by
40 years of Social Democratism, is that Schools and Hospitals are free for
all - the revenge comes in form of high taxes on the luxury parts of life.
Gas, at the moment is more than 2 dollars per liter (roughly 8 bucks per
gallon, I believe?), and Spirits are siphoned off by the state at a rate
that a bottle of 70 centiliters generally cost - not under 15 dollars. This
is a 'sour' part of living that has been repetedly confirmed as a wilful
sacrifice by our galant people, allthough everyone are perpetually wishing
for slightly bigger carrots and a noticeably softer wip.

Personally, I think the philosophy is sound. I mean, who cares about the
price of gas and licour when you get seriously ill? Call the ambulance, and
you are automatically on paid sick-leave.

No discussion - that has got to be the essence of solidarity.

So, the wip encounters toughened skin - I know what to expect.
