I was going through an old laptop computer with win 95
and somehow managed to delete a rather important file for
windows. Does anyone have the file vdf1.386 that they
could email to me?

It is not a Windows file at all...it apparently is from some other software.  Are
you getting an error message?  What is your exact error and when does it occur?

The only reference I could find to a file of this name was with regard
to a program call Interchange from Rockwell Software.

What you could do is to boot the computer into Safe Mode (press F8 at
the "Starting Windows 95..." message) and then check system, ini for
references to this file.   If there are none in system.ini then use
Start - Run - Regedit and search there.

Good luck
