I have been unable to reinstall win 95 on my portable as
the setup disks are 1.76 mb and my portable will not
accept anything above 1.44 mb. Any solutions please?

The setup procedure is designed to be able to use these floppies, even
though they are not normally accessible under Windows.  What procedure are
you using to do the setup, and exactly what problem are you running into?

Jeff the portable floppy drive will not read the disks
I'm afraid it's as simple as that.

Your question indicates that you are trying to install a version of
Windows that was not intended for this specific computer. The makers
of laptops often modify Windows to adapt it to their specific
hardware, and installing an inappropriate version can cause serious
harm. I recommend that you consult tech support at the company that
made the laptop.
