Error loading the OS

Hi  there,

My Win 95 laptop can't boot up properly. After the POST,
it stops and gives an error message: Error loading the OS

What can I do ?????

First, try booting the computer with a Windows Startup Disk in drive
A:. If the computer will boot from A:, then use DOS commands to make
backup copies of all of your valuable documents, financial records,
etc.

If the computer will boot from A:, this may be a harddisk failure due
to a crucial bad sector, In that case, Windows is damaged. You can try
rerunning Windows' Setup program. If you set up Windows in the same
folder, you should not lose any valuable documents. However, before
you do this, make sure that your Windows CD-ROM is not a "recovery"
CD-ROM. The recovery CD's usually reformat the harddisk. If you
reformat the harddisk, you will lose anything you have not backed up.

If the computer will not boot from drive A:, consult tech support at
the company that manufactured the computer.
