The computer my Win95 came with is dead. I have been
given another computer which was running Mandrake Linux
and I have tried to remove Linux and install my windows
95B. I thought I had sucessfully unpartitioned and re
partitioned the drive (Fdisk showed only the Primary DOS
partition) but when I try to intall Win95b I get the
message that 'setup found a compressed volume or a disk-
cache utility on my computer.' I don't know enough about
Linux to know what to do now. As far as I know there is
no compressed drives or utilities, but I want Win95b NOT
Linux on my computer.

Memac:
Microsoft's version of FDISK often has problems dealing with partitions
created with non Microsoft versions of FDISK. You have several options.
- Use a set of LINUX boot floppies to delete all the partitions.
- Use "ZAP" to delete the partiption table from the drive
http://service.boulder.ibm.com/storage/hddtech/zap.exe
- Use DOS's DEBUG to write zerows to the partition table using this
script:

Get yourself a copy of win98 fdisk or DR-DOS fdisk, or free-dos FDISK, all
available in some form from www.bootdisk.com . Or go get a copy of
MAXLLF.EXE and low-level format your drive.
