Hello,

I want to reinstall Win 95 on my computer, but when I
start up the pc form the boot disk, I can't get to my cd-
rom drive (d:) to start the installation process.

Further, I think the version of Windows on my computer is
an update of Windows 95, but I can only find the original
Win 95 cd, so when I try to open this cd in Windows, I
can't get tot the software menu, because 'the version I
want to install is less recent than the version that is
on my pc'.

Can anyone help?

The standard W95 emergency startup floppy does not provide CD drivers.  You
can get an enhanced W95 boot floppy here:
www.bootdisk.com
Note that this version will probably letter the CD as R instead of D.

Look in the System applet in Control Panel for your exact Windows version.
You will need to use a CD with the same version in order to reinstall,
unless you want to delete everything and start from scratch.
