Uninstalling Win95

I have a leptop that has WIN95 on it.  I bought an upgrade
kit for it but instead of the WIN95 to XP upgrade, it was
the WIN98 to XP Upgrade.  I want to uninstall WIN95 and
install/setup WIN98 (I have the system startup disk), and
THEN use the Upgrade Kit for XP.  When I attempted
an "uninstal.exe", I received an error that stated I had
missing files and that the uninstall could not be
performed.  I am trying to set this up for my daughter and
am stuck.  Any suggestions?

There is no Win95 to XP upgrade - because Win XP wasn't created to upgrade
from Win95. However, you can use Win95 as a qualifying product to let you
use the Win XP Upgrade Edition to do a *clean* install. You can also use the
File & Settings Transfer wizard (F.A.S.T.) to export much of your Win95 user
selected settings etc. and then import them into Win XP to get much of the
effect of an upgrade.

You don't need to uninstall Win95 per se. You can leave it in place, or you
can just format the drive.
