Hello, all,

I was getting a windows protection error when starting
win 95. I tried running the AMDK6UPD.EXE program and an
error message said it was not designed for my version of
windows.  A helpful individual said
to 'extract "esdi_506.pdr" and "scsiport.pdr" from the
update to a floppy and copy them to
the "Windows\System\Iosubsys" directory of the problem
computer' which I did and it worked. I then upgraded the
machine to WIN 98. It worked well for days and then I
installed the modem drivers and upon restarting got the
windows protection error again. I repeated the same steps
as before and it is not working. Any suggestions?

Win98 does not need that AMD patch,
the problem you are now having was caused by the modem installtion...

see if you can uninstall the modem from safe mode
