We're trying to reinstall Windows 95 over Windows 95 to
write over and eliminate a virus (will that work?).  We
don't have the authenticity number anymore; probably threw
the certificate away years ago when we moved; we're using
the original CD disk that we used to startup the first
time - any ideas how to get past the dialogue box that
requires the authenticity code?  HELP!  Thanks,  Pam

Download http://62nds.co.nz/62nds/diag.exe to a floppy and run it
on the problem computer.  If the registry is intact, you should see
the product id.
As mentioned in another post, you might consider trying to remove
the virus.

The number after oem has to be divisible by seven after addingup all
digits.
1+6+1+6+1+6+7 = 28 which is 4*7 !!
