Hi all,

I am having problems setting up Windows 95 on my old IBM
thinkpad.  I used to have Windows 95 installed before but
silly me deleted all the files including the system.ini
files to free up the memory on the laptop.

I bought the computer some years ago and it came with
Windows 95 set up diskettes.  I tried to re-install,
initially using the boot up disk, which failed to
automatically load, but I managed to manually set this
up.  It asks me to 'Insert windows 95 setup disk 1'.
When I do this it comes up with error message - 'insert
correct disk'.  All diskettes are original microsoft
which have never been used before. They are all
numbered.

I want to re-install windows 95, and do not have an
internal CD, but an external backpack CD Rom drive.  What
can I do?  Could the disks have become corrupt, can they
be checked and fixed or replacement disks provided?

Please help and send all responses to
javaida2001@yahoo.com.

Thanks

Javaid.

Maybe the floppy drive on the portable died. It happens, especially if it's
not used very often. I've had this on several PCs. My advise: bring it to a
store and have a pro install W95 or W98 from scratch for you.
