AOL installed IE5.5, and the installation appears to be damaged.
You can try the IE Repair tool....click Start>Run, type the following, press Enter, and follow the prompts:
RUNDLL32 SETUPWBV.DLL,IE5Maintenance
but I suggest reinstalling IE5.5, which means in this case probably reinstalling AOL, but using the procedure below...it may at this point be best to uninstall it and start over fresh:
Reboot the computer.
Open the Temp folder and delete all Temp files:
-Click Start>Run, type %temp% and click OK.
-Press Ctrl+A to select all, then press Delete.
Delete the Temporary Internet Files:
Click Start> Settings> Control Panel> Internet Options> General tab.
Click the Delete Files button, then put a checkmark in the box to Delete all offline content, and click OK, and OK.
Close all open windows and running apps.
Disable your anti-virus and screensaver.
Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, and End Task on everything except Explorer and Systray.
Then install AOL with IE5.5
Get rid of any entries for RealPlayer in Windows startup.
If it is the RealOne player, and you use it, replace it with RealPlayer 8 Basic.
Open RealOne or RealPlayer, click the Preference or Options menu, and root around till you find a way to turn off SmartStart and/or disable all updates and headlines.
It is easier to do in RealPlayer; RealOne makes it difficult to disable through the program.
Uninstall RealOne and then install RealPlayer 8, and disable SmartStart in the Preferences menu, along with all updates and headlines:
RealPlayer 8 download.:
http://forms.real.com/real/player/legacy.html?type=mlb
Click the Windows 95 link.
Another option is to uninstall RealOne or RealPlayer in Add\Remove Programs, if you don't use it.
Windows 95 with 32MB RAM would benefit from having a vcache limit set.
Click Start>Run, type: system.ini and click OK.
Scroll down to the [vcache] heading in the file, and immediately below that heading, add a MaxFileCache entry and set it for starters to one-fourth the installed RAM.
So, in this case it would look like this:
[vcache]
MaxFileCache= 8192
Save the changes and exit, then reboot.

In Windows 95, you can use a startup manager to control your startups much the way msconfig is used in Win98. Use either of the apps on this page:

The problem was corrupted IE, a repair fixed everything.
Thanks again, Jase.
