disk i/o error

when i boot my comp , its say mesage "disk i/o error,
replace the disk then press any key.

what is that mean ?
i have try install other hdisk 2 my comp,it work fine ..

The system is telling you that it can't read the hard disk drive.  The drive
might be damaged or misconfigured, or the connectors may be loose or
corroded.
