Recently upon booting my computer I discovered that my
hard disk had become inoperative and i realized that I
had lost everything stored in it.  I  purchased and
installed a new hard disk, but my computer will not boot
because I no longer have windows installed in my
computer. It recognizes that I have yhe new hard disk and
asks that I insert my start up disk in drive "A".  When I
put my Windows 95 Startup disk in drive "A" it completes
to boot and A:> shows on the monitor. Then it stops
responding to any command, in fact regardless of what I
try, nothing happens and everything i\shown on the
monitor freezes. I know I have to install Windows 95, but
I don't know how to do it.  I would certainly appreciate
all the help and instructions on how I can accomplish
this.  I hope someone can help me, please!

Go to http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm and create a
Windows 95 startup floppy.  Use it to start the problem
computer, insert your Windows 95 CD, type
"R:\Win95\setup" and press "Enter".

Also...
before you even begin...when you boot up with the floppy you must first
run fdisk and partition your drive (you will need at least an active primary
partition)
reboot and format the drive    ...the command is     format C:

then install windows
