I recently built my own computer. To test it out I tried installing a copy of
Windows 95B onto to it. The computer itself runs fine but I can only start
Windows in safe mode. If I try to start Windows normally I get a Windows
Protection Error. I've installed the AMDK6 update patch that is suppose to fix
this problem but it doesn't work. Is it possible that the processor is still
too fast even with the update? Could it be the amount of memory I have
installed? Here are the specs.
Pentium 4 2.6GHz.
512 MB Ram
If Windows 95 won't run at this speed then what about Windows 98? I'm trying
to avoid XP if possible.

I forgot to mention that the motherboard was an Intel D875PBZ running at 800
MHz.

That win95 patch does not always work...
win98 should be fine...
btw: if you don't want to go with XP , win2000 should run well on that
machine
