I purchased several old computers from the company I
contract for.

2 of them that Im looking at have windows 95/98 and some
office products

Assuming the company may have purchased a site license? or
could have just been sold with each computer/laptop
wouldnt I be entitled to the windows OS + office products
with the hardware?

yes they were bought as-is, and cannot be returned, thats
fine, but I want the original CD to do upgrades or
maintenance ... OR... somehow trade those versions of OS
in for xp?

thanks

If they purchased a site license for their Windows 95 and/or Windows
98 then that license would be retained by the company and would not be
transferrable, at least not in part - meaning that if they had a 10
user license the could not sell two of those licenses separately with
two computers.

However if they purchased OEM licenses, such as where Windows came
preinstalled on the computers when they were new, then those licenses
are permanently tied to those specific computers and cannot be
transferred to other computers.  Therefore if they sold you the
computers the licenses are basically worthless to the company and they
should really make them available to you, but perhaps for a modest
price.

Good luck
