During boot, I get an error that a mouse has not been
detected and says to connect the mouse and reboot.
The mouse has a ps/2 connected to a 9 pin (9pin is on the
computer) connections are tight on board and outside.
I rebooted and it still does not detect a mouse. tried add
hardware, it detects the mouse but asks for the 95 o/s to
get driver but when I put the disc in it cannot find the
mouse.drv:in cabinet. I then installed the mouse set up
from the disc that came with the mouse and then reboot.
WIndows still cannot see a mouse. I then tried to add
hardware and look on the mouse installlation disc for the
driver but says it is not there.
I think this is a driver problem that windows cannot see a
mouse. But doesn't windows have a default driver for the
mouse? then why doesn't it use that driver for the mouse?
It is hard without a mouse to fix this problem since none
of us are good with keystrokes.
I looked up knowledge base Q132867, and it claims it is a
pointer.exe problem. But that is the problem if microsoft
mouse is detected as a standard mouse.  I can't get it to
detect the mouse at all!!

Did the mouse work before?  Some PS/2 mice do not have the
circuitry to work on a serial (9 pin) port regardless of the
adapter.

to me and maybe you are right.  I will send a mouse that
I know worked on that machine.

THanks, I'll contact you again if it does not work....

on add new hardware, but when I tried to install it, it
asked for the win95 cd to get the mouse.drv and couldnot
fing it. Why is that?

IN the mean time, we bought another mouse and it still
does not work!  I am going to send to her a cordless
mouse, logitech, that was used on that computer, but
can't find the installation disc for the driver ( I think
i changed the driver b/c I got an optical cordless
mouse)  I went to logitech and downloaded the driver for
the cordless mouse and will try that.

But why can't I get the mouse.drv from the win95 cd?
