I have tried to re-install Windows 95 from the cab files
on my computer.

I keep getting that I must uninstall MSIE 5.5 first but
add/remove won't allow removal.

Now what?

if IE5.5 cannot be uninstalled...
you'd basically have to remove the entries from your registry...then delete
it

unless you know how to properly edit the registry...
it;s probably safer to just reinstall windows into a new folder...
(it will probably default to windows.000 )
then once you are up and running...if your cab files are in the windows
folder
you can move them over to your windows.000 folder  then delete your
original windows folder
