Hello,
I try to install Windows 95 on a old Laptop without an CD-
Rom Drive. I connected this Laptop(Com-Port) to a modern
Desktop PC and transfered the Windows 95 installation
files. The files orignially come form a Windows 95 floppy
disk edition. (I made a backup a time ago by copying the
floppy disk files to my Desktop PC in a common directory)
So now to my problem(on the Laptop MS-DOS 6.22 is
installed). I started the windows setup file. This also
works. The setup started, I could choose the directory
where to install windows and then I can choose which kind
of setup I prefer(typical...). But if I click next there
comes the Message "cannont Read Disk"(Setup cannot read
the Windows 95 Setup disk. Make sure the disk is inserted
in the drive and the drive door is closed). As you see
there aren`t many informations in this message but I hope
anybody can help me...

A look at "c:\setuplog.txt" might be helpful.

The setup system is pointing to an ini file (the name escapes me at the
moment) that has references to the A: drive in it. Your process would have
worked if you had copied the setup files from a cd, because that ini file
uses dynamic pathing to account for the varying locations the files might be
at in a cd situation.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to install Windows 95 with MS-DOS 6.22
running on your system. Re-format your hard drive with
your Startup Disks.

That's not correct. It is quite possible to install W95 on a system running
MS-DOS 6.22 without formatting the hard drive.
