I have an old computer with W95 on it. I also have a
W98SE disc. But when I try to install it, it says I
cannot.
What patch or product do I need to buy or download so I
can upgrade this old computer.

Go out to www.bootdisk.com . What you are trying to do is not officially
recommended, but the web site does have a couple of work arounds that do the
job.

Format the C: drive with a boot disk with CD-ROM support then
install WIN98 fresh. Always works best that way. You likely have
an "OEM" WIN98 disk that is not designed to be used as an
upgrade, only a clean install.

The most likely cause is that the win98 disk you have is an oem version
which was designed for a clean install.
If the computer is too old it may be that it does not satisfy the minimum
hardware requirements (it has to be pretty old for that )
