Trying to buy a "Windows 98 SE" to update my Windows 95
Packerd Bell 233 MHz computer. I looked at the eBay and
the prices for the w98se CDs varies so much (from $2 to
$80) and that I got confused. Any idea what exactly
should I look for and what it should cost me on eBay? Any
scam that I should avoid. Any help on this is greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

Here are some of the items you will find.
Be careful because there are several version available:
Note: The update will not let you upgrade from win95 only from an installed
win98 configuration to win98SE.

1. Update - This one requires that win98 be installed and will upgrade a
win98 installation to win98SE. Microsoft once sold this for 19.95 + Shipping
and handling. I have seen it on ebay for $25-30.
Note: This cannot be used for a clean install

2. Retail Upgrade version. This one can be used to upgrade or for a clean
install (requires proof of qualifying product for clean install.

Probably $ 50-70

3. Retail Full version - This can be used for upgrade or
clean install (normally the most expensive)
Probably $ 90 and up

4. OEM version - This version was designed for a clean install and my not
allow an upgrade. Normally the most available version
Around $ 50 -60
