What's up,
I hope someone can help. I keep getting an error
message when I boot up. After the intial
message "Starting Windows 95..." I get
C:\>C:\WINDOWS\net start
Invalid value for binding specified
Invalid value for binding specified
Error loading device driver NDISHLP.SYS.
Error 7323: One or more network transport drivers failed
to load.

Can anyone help me correct this? Also I am a disabled, I
have a particulary nasty disease called chronic
pancreatitis which is slowly taking my life away, I was
blessed to get this laptop computer. I use it mainly to
keep track of my medical appts. and to write letters and
do other related things. I have a friend who is also
disabled that lets me use his computer to search the web
for updates on my disease and would like to be able to
connect the two computers together in a network fashion
so that we could both use the web without me tying up his
system with my problems. He is a good friend but I
really feel bad that I am always imposing on him. I have
limited (very limited) resources, and my equipment is
pretty old, but I can't afford to upgrade my system. In
fact the laptop that I use was given to me with the
windows95 software, unfortunately I don't have the
original system disk and really can't afford to buy a
copy, someone advised me to run the system disk but I
don't have it. Could someone please advise.

Net Start is a DOS-based application with which to log into a Local Ara
Network; if you are "on the move", you do not need it. It is invoked through
AUTOEXEC.BAT, a small batch program that all IBM-compatible computers
process as first thing when booting. It is a good thing that this network
command was not hidden by an ECHO OFF command inside AUTOEXEC.BAT.
Now for a solution. Your computer should be booting in DOS mode, either by
pressing F8 and chossing Command Prompt Only or Alt-F5 as soon as you see
the intial message "Starting Windows 95..." which you get.
C:\>_
That underscore should be blinking and that would become your cursor.
Issue the following command exactly as it appears:
EDIT AUTOEXEC.BAT
and press the "enter" key. The mouse might not work, bur the keyboard arrows
will do. set your cursor at the beginniong of the line:
C:\WINDOWS\net start
Add a rem so it says:
rem C:\WINDOWS\net start
Press the Alt key, then the F or the cursor over the File option on top and
reach the Save option, press Enter, press the Alt key again, then the F or
the cursor over the File option and reach the Exit option, then press Enter.
Type EXIT and confirm with the Enter key, then reboot with Ctrl-Alt-Delete;
net start will not appear again.
