Hello!

Could anybody help me with this problem please:
I've transfered some files via direct cable connection to
an old machine running on windows 95. When I pulled the
cable, it got stuck. After restart, I can still enter the
BIOS, but after that it says: Disk boot failure - insert
system disk. I tried a boot-up disk both for windows 95a
and 95b but so far without any succes.
I'be very grateful if you provided me a hint!

I wonder if I'm visualizing correctly what you mean by the cable getting
"stuck." Does this mean you had to pull extra-hard to get it disconnected?
I'm wondering if you pulled loose something inside the computer. My next
step in your situation would be to open the box and remove-then-replace
every card and connector.

If you aren't used to doing this, there are some basic safety precautions
you need to know about electrostatic discharge. In that situation, please
don't proceed without getting help or writing back for assistance. The steps
are very, very simple, but you need to know what you're doing.

Don't just press to confirm that a connection is snug. Sometimes it seems
that way but isn't. The best way I know is to fully unplug or remove, then
put back in place. You'll get the feel of it right that way.

Thank you. But this was a misunderstanding, I'm sorry for
not having made things quite clear. There's no apparent
problem with the plug or the cable. What I meant to say
by 'stuck' was that the computer stalled and didn't react
to any key stroke nor the mouse any more. So, after
rebooting I only get to the screen where the processor's
speed and the RAM are shown, and then this "Disk boot
failure - insert system disk" message appears.
Maybe you could consider my problem again, it would be
very kind of you.

Go into the BIOS setup and make sure the "Boot Sequence"
is set to "A: then C:".  Also, make sure the hard drive or drives
are set up properly.  Use autodetect if available and save the
new settings when exiting.
