Hello, i would be very grateful for some help regarding
the following problem:
I had connected two computers, one running on windows 98,
the other on windows 95 (probably 95B), via direct cable
connection using a parallel cable. I was copying some
files to the computer with win 95. Everything went
smoothly until I unplugged the cable from the win 95
machine which froze upon doing this. It even didn't react
to mouse movements any more. I tried to restart it, but it
gets no further than to the "Award software - system
configurations" page now, where it indicates: "primary
master disk: none" (just as for the primary slave and
secondary master and slave). The last thing that happens
is the message "Disk boot failure, insert system disk" to
pop up.
I made sure that the boot sequence in the bios is set
to "a,c" and that it should auto-detect the hard drive.
Provided there are no more intricate settings in the bios
I should check, this should be ok. I also tried boot disks
(from bootdisk.com) both for windows 95A and 95B when it
told me to insert that system disk, but without any
succes. Finally, I opened the computer to make sure none
of the plugs or the cards broke loose when I pulled the
cable, but there was no apparent damage to any of them.
Is there any hope that I might recover the data stored on
this computer?
Thank you so much for any hints!

Make sure you are saving the settings when exiting the BIOS
setup.  Also, the downloads at http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm
are programs that you download and double-click on a working
computer.  They will not work if you simply copy them to a floppy.
