I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4270 laptop and I want to install a 3com NIC
PCMCIA card but in device manager the PCI card driver is not loaded
therefore the NIC cannot function.  I have tried installing the PCI card
driver from c:\windows\options\cabs but it is not available.  Toshiba tech
support cannot help either.  Has anyone got this particular driver or knows
where I can get it?

What do you mean the driver is not loaded?
What is shown in Device Manager?
Is the PCMCIA entry showing a red X or an exclamation mark on it?

If you are seeing on the Driver tab in Device Manager that "No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device", that is the "normal" message in OSR2.x, due to a bug in the System control panel file for that version of the operating system.

What exactly is the problem you are having with the NIC?

The driver for the PCI slot is not installed and when Windows starts it
detects the PCI device and asks for the driver.  The PCI device in Device
Manager is shown as a exclamation mark.  When I insert the PCMCIA card it is
not detected by the O/S and therefore does not load the driver for it.  The
PCI driver for the PC slot needs to be loaded so the PC NIC card can be
detected.
