I understand that Windows 95 doesn't officially support
the USB interface.  But a relative has a digital camera
and it is not working on his machine because Win98 is the
minimum OS required.  Is there anything he can do to make
it work on his old Win95 machine?

Thanks

No...if the maker of the device does not supply drivers that support the Win95B version of USB, then it will not work.

BTW, only Win95B and C have USB support available, and then only if the USB Supplements are installed....the original version of Win95, and Win95A, have no USB support whatsoever.

Don't bother trying to make the camera work with W95. Instead, buy a reader
for the memory card that the camera uses, and make sure the reader is
compatible with W95. It will probably use a parallel port interface; PCMCIA
and a floppy disc interface are other options.

When he eventually upgrades, the reader can be moved to the new machine.

Win95 SR2 will support USB 1 if the USBSupp.exe is installed - but
that does not mean today's USB devices will work.  The older (and less
stable) USB code for Win95SR2 requires different drivers from those
written for Win98 and later, and few vendors provide these anymore.
