(Same question asked in w95/multimedia group, but little
activity there...)
I can get a 64mb nVidia PCI card --a Geforce4, no less--
for really, really cheap, and the owner says it wants to
see "OSR 2.1 with USB supplement installed."
I have no idea if my W95 has this installed, or what "OSR
2.1" means.
My W95 version: 4.00.950C
Is this a wild goose chase thingie?  Can there be such a
thing as a video card *requiring* USB support in the OS
it's installed for?
Can anyone tell me how I find out from my system:
a) If my W95 has "OSR 2.1", and
b) if I have the USB supplement?, and
If I don't, where can I get it?
(And, of cource, if this current video card owner doesn't
know what he's talking about, and I don't NEED to have
either of those OpSys mods installed, you could tell me
that. too, and I'd be just as happy.  (*grin*))
Thanks!

win95c is OSR2.5 ...look for file usbsupp.exe on your cd for enabling USB
support (for the video card not likely)

win95B is OSR2.1 so you should be fine

I don't know why they seem to think you need the USB Supplement installed, for a PCI video card.  Generally, the USB Supplement is only required for AGP cards in Win95B and C, as the updated memory manager from the supplement is required for AGP drivers to work properly.

You have Win95C which is also known as OSR 2.5, so you should be OK, assuming the particular brand of the GeForce4 card you get has Win95 drivers available.
