What happens when you try? Are the items missing, or can you find them and
click on them, but they don't work? If they don't work, what happens? is
there an error message? If you find the EXE file that actually starts the
application, can you double-click that file and does the application start?

Copy and paste the following text to Notepad and save it
to a floppy as "a:\exefix.reg". Start the laptop, insert the
floppy, click "Start", "Run", then type "a:\exefix.reg" into
the "Open" box and click "OK".
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command]
@="\"%1\" %*"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSES\exefile\shell\open\command]
@="\"%1\" %*" ;
[End]
