And just how do these problems relate to your subject line "Himem
missing"?

Is Windows loading and launching Internet Explorer, then it crashes
back to the Windows Startup Menu?  Do you see the Windows desktop with
the icons on it at any point during this startup?

When the Windows Startup Menu (black window) appears, what happens if
you choose Safe Mode from the menu?

There are a vast number of different possible errors that contain the
words "fatal exception" and most of these each have a different cause
and therefore a different cure.   If you want anyone to be able to
give you some advice about how to fix that problem then you need to
include the complete *verbatim* text of the error message on the blue
screen.  See http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm for advice on what other
information you should include.

Check your Windows 95 CDROM.  Is it a "system recovery" disk or is it
a complete installation CD?   If it is a system recovery disk then you
should be able to put that into the drive and the computer will boot
from it.  Note:  A system recovery disk will normally wipe out
everything on the computer, including all of your data files, emails,
installed programs, etc. and then install a complete new copy of
Windows exactly the way it was when the computer left the factory.

If you have a complete installation CD for your Windows 95 then you
can create diskettes from it using the procedure described on MVP Ron
Badour's web page at

Good luck
