Greetings from Australia.

Have been running this combination now for many years
without incident however now have encountered a "mail"
problem which appears to be unrelated to my ISP.

My "sent" mails are remaining within the Outbox and
sending in multiple...sometimes as many as 67.

However, within the SENT box, there remains no appearance.

Checking via ISP's Webmail capability, all appears normal
in that there appears only one SENT and the OUTBOX is
clear.

My ISP ("Optus") say they now no longer provide any
technical support for Windows 95 users and suggested I
either upgrade to '98 and upgrade Outlook from 4 to at
least 5.5 ASAP.

Is there an alternative to "upgrading" someone could
provide that may have encountered this anomaly previously?
It appears that Outlook is not registering that the mail
has in fact been sent.

Clueless downunder

Greetings from Tasmania.

Are you really talking about Outlook or Outlook Express?
(a difference)
If OE as the 5.5 seems to indicate, then I suggest you post to an OE
group, as it has little to do with Win95.

What is the exact version of OE and why are you against a simple
upgrade?

The Webmail is likely to be a red herring. My ISP's Webmail folders
bear no relationship to my email client's folders and I wouldn't
expect them to.

G'day Alan,
Sincerely appreciate your input.
Yes you are correct..........is Outlook Express 4.72.3110.5
in fact.
I will take your advice and post to OE Group as well.
As I have never upgraded previously my only concern
relates to corruption of settings and/or loss of input.
Probably an unrealistic fear correct?
Are upgrades best obtained from Microsoft on-line?
How do I know the max. version that Windows '95  and my
hardware will support?
Perhaps I should also be upgrading my '95 to '98
..........at least then Optus may decide to offer me the
assistance for which I am already paying?
With these upgrade options, will my hardware confirm
incompatability before upgrade commences to play around
with my files?

Apologies for naive q's.

Dave

That version is pretty old and you run a security risk.
You cannot get IE upgrades from MS for Win95 any longer. You are a
little late.
You can go as high as IE5.5 SP2 with Win95.
You can get old versions here:
http://browsers.evolt.org/?ie/32bit
http://public.planetmirror.com/pub/microsoft/ie/
(or get an old copy of PC User and other free magazine CDs)

Win98 SE is a good choice if you do not have the hardware for XP.
Check your hardware for Win98 here:

PS: This is the first time I've utilised such a facility
and am very impressed.
