Hello, this might be a stupid question to most people but
here goes: How do I find out what sound card I have in my
computer without taking it to a repair shop?

if it's not identified in device manager
all you have to do is open the case and have a look

Right-click "My Computer", click Properties on the menu that appears, then the Device Manager tab.
Click the + sign next to "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" to expand it, and your sound card will be listed there.
Another option is to install AIDA32 - Worldwide Sysinfo Tool:
http://www.aida32.hu/aida32.php
run it, and find your device listings there.

If you can ID the card
chances are you can get the drivers from www.driverguide.com

If you can ID the company that made it,
its safer to go the company website support section to
download drivers
but www.driverguide.com is still a good place

Have you been able to identify the card through Device Manager?
