lost product key number

I had to do a full restore on my 1997 compaq computer.
I need to reinstall windows 95, but i have lost the product
key number

can any one help me?

Since your OS was supplied by Compaq, not Microsoft, you should call Compaq,
with the serial number of the machine, and see if they can supply you with a
number. Otherwise, copies of W95, with a product ID, are available on Ebay.

If you haven't overwritten the previous system yet (even if you can't boot
it) then you may be able to recover the product ID. See:
