Need help, hope someone would be kind enough to list the steps for a starter with dos.
I formatted the C: drive,(reason: virus from last week) I don't know the next step. I have the original win 95 disk Set up only and full version of Windows 95 and windows 98.
Thanking you in advance

if you are going to install win98
just set the bios to boot from cd and you can install by just putting the cd
in your
drive
with win95 you need a cd support bootdisk
you can get one from www.bootdisk.com
run setup from the R: drive

1. Insert Windows 98 CD into the cd-rom drive, turn on the computer
2. If it asks to boot off the CD or hard drive, choose boot from CD
3. When it asks if you want to go to WIn98 setup, command prompt or
command prompt with CD support. Select Command prompt with CD-rom support
4. When it boots to DOS, eject the Win98 cd.
5. Insert the Windows 95 disk, and run setup.exe off of the disk.
Windows 95 setup should start.
I hope this was helpful.

Philo, and JWooden,
The Windows 98 CD is not bootable, unless it is an OEM bootable disc.....retail Win98 CDs are not bootable.

I knew my win98 cd was bootable
and when I just looked at it now...sure enough it was an OEM version
I guess the OP may need to get the bootdisk

Which are you trying to install, Win95 or Win98?
You can get a boot diskette maker that includes DOS CD drivers, for Win95 or Win98, at www.bootdisk.com/
Download the disk maker on another computer, run it and follow the prompts to create a boot floppy.
Boot your machine from that floppy, watch the screen to find the drive letter assigned to the CD, then switch to that letter and run setup from whichever OS's CD you plan to install.
