i have an IBM P50 monitor and a screwed up the settings by
messing with them. Does anyone know how to change the
settings back to the defaults?

You can ask IBM, of course. I suggest that you check their web site
for info: www.ibm.com. However, I was unable to find anything on their
site about a model P50. The P-series monitors seem to have four-digit
type numbers, such as 6551, plus two numbers and a letter, such as
63N.

What settings did you mess with, and screw up?
If you mean the display settings in Control Panel, just set them back....if you can't see the screen in Windows, boot to Safe Mode and change them there.

If you mean the buttons on the monitor itself, see Bill's reply.
