Thanks for your responce. I am not certain which version
of 95 I have but I think it is the early one. I have
tried to find the missing files on  95 as well as 98 and
98SE. I have used the find files facility with not
results.

Yes the mobo has integarted audio and I do not have a
sound card. I have also told windows that I do not have a
sound card. I have even tried to disable and enable
integrated audio in th BIOS with same results.

Will try and copy the Win95 or Win 98 folder to hard
drive as you suggest. This is really driving me mad!!

It has beeen suggested that I have hardwear problems. I
cannot see that but how can I check each piece ie Mobo,
CPU and Ram I can replace HDD with another but I cannot
see that it is that.

Will be going away for few days on business but will try
all you say on return. If you have any further ideas
please post and will deal with. Will let you know.
