if your machine's hardware can handle XP
you just install it directly...
(win95 cannot be upgraded)
you will only need a cd from an older OS for verification

need to install 2000 first

That might be so but is all the hardware/software you're using for Win95
compatiable with WinXP??

Keep your money. I'd stick with Windows 95, unless you really must
upgrade. Windows95 may be old, but it still works.
